Background and Context

Since September 2012, The Asia Foundation (TAF) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS) have partnered on an innovative South Asia regional program to advance women’s entrepreneurship. This program advances the U.S. Government’s “New Silk Road” goals of enhanced regional economic integration and increased trade across South and Central Asia and builds directly on the DOS 2012 South Asia Women’s Entrepreneurship Symposium (SAWES).


Registering on sawes.org opens up wider market for women entrepreneurs. In addition to registering we also urge women entrepreneurs to become a certified entrepreneur of the portal. Being a certified entrepreneur/consultant opens up to a lot more powerful features of the portal including:

  • Link with buyers and sellers
  • Access to other portal that support and promote women entrepreneurs
  • Information sharing and networking with other women entrepreneurs in the region
  • Visibility and publicity for your business
  • Access to information on trade shows, workshops, exhibitions, government tenders and other regional trade issues and opportunities.
